Breakfast Energy Bars

In collaboration with AHDB and British Muslim TV,  Shazans are taking you on another food adventure like no other! We’ll have incredible recipes to inspire your Ramadan, showcasing the use of British chicken, lamb, beef, dairy and cereals and special guests from within the Halal industry. Watch daily during Ramadan across all our social channels!

Cook time: 15 mins

Ingredients 

  • 100g butter
  • 200g clear runny honey
  • 200g British rolled oats
  • 150g mixed nuts (e.g. sunflower, pumpkin, sesame, flax)
  • 100g toasted flaked almonds
  • 100g sultanas
  • 50g ground almonds
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180ºC, 160ºC Fan, Gas Mark 4.
  2. Heat the butter and honey in a saucepan until the butter has melted.
  3. Stir in the remaining ingredients except the sesame seeds and press into a 22cm non-stick square baking tin.
  4. Sprinkle with the sesame seeds and bake for 15 minutes until golden.
  5. Allow to cool slightly before cutting into 12 bars.
  6. Leave in the baking tin to cool completely before removing.  Store in an airtight contain for up to three days.
